Working Holiday is a youth exchange mobility program that allows young people to reside, work, travel, or study freely for a specified period in participating countries through bilateral agreements.
With a maximum age limit of 30 years old (extended to 35 as of 2024), and offering open work permits for up to 2 years, the program has expanded maximum working hours from 25 hours per week to 40 hours per week, accommodating up to 12,000 Korean students annually as of 2024.
Proficiency in English is crucial for employment opportunities. Despite many young people having high aspirations to travel to Canada each year, the reality is that language barriers often make local employment challenging. Therefore, short-term intensive language courses and job preparation are recommended for effective job hunting activities.
워킹홀리데이는 국가 간 협정을 맺어 젊은이들이 정해진 기간 동안 자유롭게 거주·취업·여행·공부할 수 있도록 해주는 청년 교환 이동성 프로그램입니다.
만 30세 나이 제한이 만 35세로 변경(2024년 기준)되었고, 최대 2년까지 오픈 취업비자가 제공됩니다. 주 25시간에서 주 40시간으로 최대 근로시간이 확대되어 한국 유학생을 연간 1만 2,000명까지 수용합니다(2024년 기준).
취업을 위해서 영어 실력은 매우 중요한 조건입니다. 매년 많은 청년들이 큰 꿈을 가지고 캐나다로 향하지만, 영어 장벽으로 현지 취업이 쉽지 않은 것이 현실이며, 제대로 된 취업 활동을 위해서는 먼저 단기간 집중 어학연수와 구직 준비를 추천합니다.
